Kids classes 7 days a week, designed for diverse learning styles, abilities and ages.

At Capital MMA DC, we understand the importance of focused, age-appropriate instruction that allows every single child to thrive, no matter their learning style, ability, or age.

That's why we've developed a few distinct class categories for our Kids BJJ program: to create clear learning pathways for every student, and to make classes more fun, more effective, and more developmentally aligned, all while providing plenty of 1-on-1 attention to your child.

As the only BJJ gym in the area that provides kids classes every single day, our unlimited membership structure gives families maximum schedule flexibility.

Kids BJJ (Ages 7+)

Our most well-rounded and popular class! Kids will learn techniques, drills, sparring games, free sparring, and jiu jitsu vocabulary in a fun, focused, and supportive setting. This class combines structure with creativity — helping kids build confidence, discipline, and a love for the sport.

Great for:

  • Most kids ages 7+, new or experienced
  • Graduates of the Littles classes
  • This is the perfect “main class” to grow in every direction — technically, mentally, and socially

Littles Movement for BJJ

(Ages 4-6)

A fun intro to jiu jitsu designed to teach kids the foundational movements of the sport, body awareness, and basic vocabulary— perfect for beginners, energetic kids, and anyone still developing focus or coordination. 

Great for:

  • First-timers
  • Active preschoolers/kindergartners
  • Kids not quite ready to spar or follow along with complicated techniques

Grappling Games (Ages 5-9)

This class teaches jiu jitsu through sparring-based games and light technique work. It's designed to build confidence, resilience, and comfort with contact.

Great for:

  • Kids who learn best through movement
  • Kids who struggle with sitting still
  • Students who enjoy play-based learning

Wrestling (Ages 7+)

A high-energy class focused on takedowns, control, and discipline. Includes technique, drilling, sparring games, and live rounds. Builds strength, balance, and tenacity.

Great for:

  • Kids who love movement
  • Kids who want to build strength, endurance, and wrestling ability
  • Kids who need an outlet for intensity

Teen-Only BJJ (Ages 12+)

A class just for our teens! Expect more technical depth, live sparring, and age-appropriate challenges.

Great for:

  • Teens who want to train with peers and develop serious grappling skill

Advanced Kids BJJ

A fast-paced class for committed students working toward competition-level technique, advanced drills, and strategy. Kids must pass a test to enroll.

Great for:

  • Kids with strong fundamentals, consistent attendance, and a desire to level up

Kids Open Mat (All ages)

A relaxed, open-format class with free sparring and time to experiment. We recommend your child has a few months experience before joining.

Parents are encouraged to jump in and roll with their kids, too!
